Butane

Bhutan is a mountainous, landlocked country located in the eastern Himalayas, between Tibet in China to the north, the Indian states of Assam and West Bengal to the south and east, and Sikkim to the west.

Bhutan is divided into three latitudinal zones: The High Himalayas rise to the north. 20 peaks exceed 7000 m above sea level (the highest peak is Gangkhar Puensum 7570 m). In the central zone, which decreases towards the south, forming the Lesser Himalayas (Inner Himalayas), there are lower ranges traversed by fertile river valleys.

And so, between the rivers Mo and Drangme there is a watershed of the Black Mountains with heights of 1500 - 2700 m above sea level. In the east of the country is the Donga mountain range. The foothills of the Himalayas are formed by the Sivalik massif with hills not exceeding 1500 m above sea level. The last zone is located in the south of the country and lowlands. This is the Duars (Dwar) plain, which lies overwhelmingly in India, here it occupies a border belt with India 8-13 km wide.

The official name of the kingdom of Bhutan means "Land of the Thunder Dragon" or the Kingdom of the Dragon. The inhabitants claim that they are people of thunder. Until recently, this mysterious and beautiful country was almost completely closed to the cultural influence of the rest of the world, thanks to which it has retained its identity, traditions and customs.

The people of Bhutan are unique in many ways. They still cultivate the land without chemicals, which makes it possible to enjoy an unpolluted environment. Bhutanese live in complete harmony with nature.

The inhabitants of the kingdom, despite the fact that their homeland has been closed to other countries for so long, are extremely hospitable people. They run excellent hotels that combine high standards with traditional local touches.

It is best to fly to Bhutan with a stopover in Nepal, which will make the journey easier in terms of logistics and also allow you to visit two extremely beautiful countries in one trip.

Travelguide.ru claims that the vast majority of Bhutanese are followers of Buddhism, which had a huge impact on the culture and traditions of the state.
