Fantastic Barakol - an amazing place in the Crimea, where you need to visit

AT Crimea has a fantastic salt marsh in its landscapes, reminiscent of the legendary Uyuni in Bolivia or the American Salt Lake City. We are talking about a place called Barakol, which is only 5 kilometers from Koktebel.

The vast majority of visitors to the Koktebel Valley first of all rush to the extinct volcano Karadag, to the top of Mount Voloshin or to the Quiet Bay. Well, we turn into the village of Nanikovo, which was called before the war, like the whole basin - Barakol.

In the wet season, Barakol is a lake with a sloping, almost flat configuration. The depth of the lake on the best days does not exceed one meter. As soon as the spring sun begins to bake, the water in the lake evaporates and there remains a salt marsh with a characteristic color of salt.

It's not water, it's salt

The bottom of the lake, scorched by the hot southern sun, is covered with a characteristic pattern of desert patterns that resemble the earth after the apocalypse.

On hot summer days, the resulting landscape resembles some kind of alien landscape, sung by the Strugatskys.

The bottom of the lake in Barakol is perfectly flat. In America, on such dry salt marshes, special tracks are being laid to set world speed records. And in the Crimea, local reckless drivers drive around Barakol. A light breeze catches small particles of salt and twists it in a cheerful whirlwind.

If you decide to walk along the bottom of Barakol, then keep in mind that the sun's rays reflected from the white salt under your feet and with a vengeance affect a person. This is the case when the effect of albedo (reflections of solar radiation) is easiest to feel on your own skin! And if it was about +25 C in the air, then it may seem to you that you are in a real huge natural oven!
